The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) is set to receive a Rs 303-crore infrastructure upgrade as compensation for land given to the Telangana government’s elevated corridor projects along NH-44 and SH-1.
During a meeting attended by MLA Sri Ganesh Narayanan, MP Eatala Rajender, and senior officials, SCB CEO D. Madhukar Naik stated that around 170 acres of defence land are affected, including 24 acres owned by the Cantonment Board. Instead of the compensation being deposited into the Consolidated Fund of India, the Ministry of Defence approved using it for local infrastructure works.
The outlay will fund three major projects — a new underground sewerage system and the development of Hasmathpet and Patny nalas under the Strategic Nala Development Plan (SNDP). These initiatives aim to enhance sanitation, drainage, and flood prevention. The works will be executed by HMWSSB, GHMC, and HMDA, with public feedback invited within 30 days before finalising tenders.
