Tata Power is planning to set up a coal-fired power station in Myanmar.
The company has already signed an MoU with the Government of Myanmar for setting up an imported coal-based power plant. In Myanmar, the power plant is proposed to be located in Ngayok Kaung, Ayeyarwaddy region, and will have captive coal berthing arrangements.
Tata Power has started feasibility studies for the project. The capacity of the proposed project will be finalised based on the feasibility studies. The company is expected to commission the power plant by 2019-20.
At present, the company is developing hydroelectric projects in Bhutan, Georgia and Zambia. The firm is also developing two wind power projects in South Africa.
