Tata Power, on 26 September 2006,
signed an MoU with the Orissa government for a 1,000 MW coal-based power project
(Phase I) at Naraj Marthapur in Cuttak district. This is among the 10 MoUs
signed by the Orissa government.
The project will be implemented in a
phased manner and Phase I (1,000 MW) of the project is estimated to cost
Rs.4,300 crore. Phase II of the project with a capacity of another 1,000 MW will
take the overall capacity to 2,000 MW with a combined investment of Rs.9,000
crore.
According to the company, the Orissa
government has promised comprehensive assistance to the project through single
window clearances and other approvals.
Meanwhile, Union Power Minister, Mr.
Sushil Kumar Shinde conducted a ground breaking ceremony for Tata Power's 1,000
MW Maithon power project. (more...)
