Tata Power, on 8 January 2012, commissioned a Unit I of its 4,000 MW (5x800) ultra mega power project (UMPP) at Mundra in Gujarat.
The company has test fired its first supercritical 800 MW unit with initial generation of 60 MW, and aims to ramp up the unit shortly. The company is aiming to increase generation from its proposed 4,000 MW coal based power project entailing an investment of Rs 17,000 crore subsequently.
