Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on 05 Januray, 2026 reiterated that the government is committed to completing the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme with its originally approved water allocation of 90 TMC.
The Minister said the Congress government is strictly following the government order issued by the previous BRS administration in August 2022, which clearly outlined the said allocation. He explained that the proposal included 45 TMC from savings in minor irrigation projects and another 45 TMC from Telangana’s share of Andhra Pradesh’s Godavari diversions.
While work had been stalled on crucial links and distributary canals, delaying irrigation benefits to drought-prone districts such as Mahabubnagar and Rangareddy, the project has the potential to irrigate over 12.3 lakh acres.
