Padma Shri Rajinder Gupta, Chairman and Promoter of Trident Group, has launched a major Rs 2,000 crore expansion plan aimed at accelerating industrial growth, job creation, and sustainable development in Punjab.
The announcement was made during a press briefing led by Punjab’s Industry and Commerce Minister, Sanjeev Arora. As part of the plan, Trident Group will invest Rs 1,500 crore in Barnala to enhance Terry Towel production and upgrade paper manufacturing operations. An additional Rs 500 crore will be invested in Mohali to build a state-of-the-art corporate office and a capacity-building center. This strategic expansion will reinforce the Group’s leadership in textiles and paper, while creating 2,000 new employment opportunities, with a strong emphasis on hiring semi-skilled rural women to further women’s empowerment.
Highlighting the company’s commitment, the statement noted, “This strategic initiative will strengthen the Group’s presence across diverse sectors.” Trident, headquartered in Ludhiana, is a globally recognised, vertically integrated manufacturer of textiles and wheat-straw-based paper.
