The twin towers project in Guwahati, originally envisioned as a commercial hub under former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, has been restructured into the Integrated Directorate Complex at Betkuchi.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the shift, stating, “Those who are asking about the twin towers, this is what we are constructing in Betkuchi, Guwahati as the Integrated Directorate Complex.”
Initially announced in 2018 with a budget of Rs 2,000 crore in collaboration with the National Building Construction Company (NBCC), the project was abandoned due to investor disinterest and NBCC’s withdrawal. In January 2023, CM Sarma formally introduced the Integrated Directorate Complex as the revised plan, emphasizing its greater utility.
