On 19 November, 2025, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved 95 new irrigation projects worth Rs 394.53 crore aimed at enhancing the state's canal system.
These projects will improve irrigation capacity across 36,000 hectares, benefiting nearly 9,00,000 farmers and rural communities. Addressing the irrigation and water resources department, CM Yogi emphasised the importance of timely project completion without compromising quality. The projects include canal restoration, construction of new infrastructure, and repairs to existing facilities like bridges, culverts, and watermills. Areas such as Purvanchal, Bundelkhand, and Western UP are set to benefit significantly.
"The vision behind these projects is to ensure reliable irrigation, increase agricultural output, and strengthen the rural economy," said CM Yogi Adityanath.
