Sterlite Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sterlite Industries has
successfully lighted the boiler for Unit I 600 MW of the 2,400 MW thermal power
plant in Jharsuguda, Orissa.
Following the boiler light up, the plant is to begin commercial operation in
September 2010. The entire project entails a cost of Rs 8,200 crore, the EPC
contract for which has been given to SEPCO III.
The company is in process of setting up a 1,980 MW project at Talwandi in
Punjab at a total investment of about Rs 9,320 crore. The project is to be
completed by September 2014.
