The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the establishment of a new sugar plant in Morna, Muzaffarnagar, to be set up at the Ganga Kisan Cooperative Sugar Mill.
The project will initially increase the mill’s crushing capacity from 2,500 TCD to 3,500 TCD, with plans for further expansion to 5,000 TCD. This upgrade aims to replace the outdated plant and old technology, which have been causing technical losses. The cabinet stated that the new plant, based on modern technology, will operate more efficiently and profitably. The decision is expected to significantly benefit sugarcane farmers in the Morna region, as it will not only increase production but also help double the income of farmers. Additionally, the improved mill will ensure timely payments for their produce.
As the Cabinet noted, "This decision will benefit sugarcane farmers in the Morna region, helping in doubling cane farmers' income and ensuring timely payment for their produce." This move is a major boost for the sugar sector in western Uttar Pradesh.
