The Ministry of Steel has unveiled that as many as 10 steel processing units will be set up in Uttar Pradesh.
These 10 units are likely to be developed by public sector enterprises, namely Rashtriya Ispat Nigam and Steel Authority of India. These projects will come up at Gonda, Barabanki, Lakhimpur, Hardoi, Jhansi, Kaisergunj, Mirzapur, Ambedkar Nagar, and Bahraich. The location of the tenth unit is yet to be finalised.
Each steel unit will be established with an investment of Rs 100 crore. The total investment will be to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore.
Apart from this, another steel factory is being set up at Jagdishpur with a 13,000 tpa capacity corrugation unit and a TMT Bar mill with a capacity of 1,50,000 tpa. The new stockyards are also being set up at Gorakhpur and Gonda. A forged wheel plant will be established at Raebareli.
Meanwhile, the ministry has also unveiled that the two coal-fired power plants will be set up at Gonda and Jagdishpur. Each power project will entail an investment of Rs 3,000 crore.
