Vasavadatta Cement, an arm of Kesoram Industries, proposes to expand its
annual production capacity by two million tonne.
The company currently has a six million tonne plant in
Sedam, Karnataka. The capacity addition will require Rs 1,000 crore, which
will be mobilised through internal accruals and loans. The company is also
scouting for additional land at the site. The expansion is likely to be
completed in a span of two years.
Meanwhile, on 8 May 2011, the company's cement packing plant at Bachpalli was
inaugurated. The plant, set up at a cost of Rs 10 crore, has a capacity to pack
60,000 tonne of cement a month of the Birla Shakti brand. It will also be
setting up one more similar plant in Sedam in the next six months.
