Gensol Engineering has emerged as a successful bidder for a standalone 250 MW (500 MWh) battery energy storage systems (BESS) project from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL).
The contract is worth Rs 1,340 crore, and entails the supply of electricity on an 'on-demand' basis to Gujarat state's distribution companies (DISCOMs during peak and off-peak hours, thus extending renewable energy availability beyond solar hours.
The project will deliver 250 MW/500 MWh energy for two charge/discharge cycles per day, and would contribute to fulfilling energy storage purchase obligations, and enhancing grid resilience.
This would further enable Gensol Engineering to make a significant impact within the energy domain, while solidifying its position in the renewable energy segment, advancing the future of BESS in India.
