Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana has announced that a Rs 550-crore drinking water project for Guntur city, including 10 merged villages, will be taken up after Cabinet clearance on October 3.
Responding to MLA Ramanjaneyulu in the Assembly, he said Phase-I of AMRUT will be completed by December 2025, with AMRUT 2.0 works beginning next month. The Gorantla water tank project, sanctioned at Rs 33.53 crore, has achieved 90 percent completion and is set for full operation by December 2025. Two separate schemes worth Rs 331 crore are proposed to strengthen supply to merged villages. Tanuku Municipality has secured Rs 38 crore for a water grid and Rs 80.11 crore for infrastructure, targeted for completion by 2027.
Additionally, drinking water projects worth Rs 420 crore have been sanctioned under AMRUT 2.0 for Nidadavole, Palakollu, Narasapuram, Bhimavaram, and Akiveedu. Overall, over Rs 900 crore is committed to regional water infrastructure, promising equitable access and sustainable growth.
