Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, informed the Rajya Sabha that the fishing harbour project at Kothapatnam in Andhra Pradesh will now be completed by the end of 2027 at an estimated cost of nearly Rs 442 crore.
Initially approved in October 2022, the project had a budget of Rs 364 crore, with Rs 80 crore allocated from the Central government under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. However, the Minister noted that the state government had to cancel the contract in April 2025 due to less than 25 percent progress on the project.
Minister Singh added that Rs 40 crore had already been released for the project, but delays led to a revised project cost of Rs 441.88 crore. He emphasised that the project is now expected to be completed by December 2027, helping boost the fishing industry in Andhra Pradesh.
