On 11 February, 2026, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the Hariyakhedi Water Augmentation Project in Ujjain, valued at Rs 1,133.67 crore.

The project is aimed at ensuring a steady supply of clean drinking water during the upcoming Simhastha-2028, a major Hindu religious event held every 12 years in Ujjain. CM Yadav emphasised that the project will not only meet the water needs of devotees and residents during the event but will also provide long-term water supply to the city. Speaking at the ceremony, CM Yadav said, "This project will ensure the availability of pure drinking water for devotees and citizens, while also guaranteeing long-term water supply to every household."

In addition to the water project, CM Yadav also inaugurated 11 other development works worth Rs 47.23 crore, aiming to improve the city’s infrastructure ahead of the global event.
