Oriana Power has bagged the order to set up a 25 MWp agrivoltaic plant for offtake by a real estate developer under Group Net Metering (GNM) Policy in Delhi.
The scope of work includes the construction of a 10 km underground transmission line (double-circuit) and the establishment of a 66 kV substation to cater to three GNM users, ensuring efficient power distribution.
This project is set to become the largest agrivoltaic installation in India, combining solar power generation with large-scale farming. This project is purportedly the single largest GNM initiative in India, and the first of its kind in Delhi. Solar panels will be installed on raised structures with walkways for cleaning, allowing for uninterrupted farming activities underneath.
Agrivoltaics combines agriculture and solar power production on the same unit of land, leading to increased land-use efficiency. In group net metering, surplus energy generated/injected from a renewable energy system is exported to the grid through net meter. This design ensures optimal land use and agricultural productivity.
