Andhra Pradesh has identified more than 110 projects under the Sagarmala Programme with a combined investment potential of over Rs one lakh crore, aimed at boosting port-led development and coastal infrastructure in the state.

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, shared during the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament “These projects are implemented by the Union Ministries, lnland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), State government, and the Visakhapatnam Port Authority. Under the Sagarmala project, the Centre is partially funding nine projects worth ?1,286 crore in Andhra Pradesh,” the Union Minister said.

These span a range of initiatives including port modernisation, improved connectivity, waterways, fishing harbours, roll-on/roll-off services, and community development, with some already completed and others in various stages of implementation, according to the Shipping Ministry. Officials highlighted that these identified projects will improve cargo handling, expand port capabilities and support local economic growth while attracting further investment.
