Global frozen food major McCain Foods has announced a Rs 3,800 crore investment to set up a frozen potato products manufacturing unit in Madhya Pradesh, marking one of the largest recent investments in the state’s food processing sector.
The Canadian multinational has been allotted around 70 acres of land in Phase 3 of the Agar Malwa industrial area. Of the total proposed outlay, Rs 1,800 crore will be invested in the first phase. The project is expected to provide a stable and assured market for potato farmers across Malwa and nearby regions, helping them reduce dependence on fluctuating fresh produce prices through value-added processing. The facility will also act as an anchor unit, encouraging the growth of ancillary industries and logistics services in the region.
“Large food processing investments like McCain’s align with MP’s strategy to leverage its strong agricultural base, attract global players, and create rural-linked employment through agro-industry integration,” MPIDC Ujjain Executive Director Rajesh Rathod said. The investment supports Madhya Pradesh’s broader industrial push and employment creation goals.
