A Rs 913.7 crore project has been approved for a six-lane elevated flyover on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway, aimed at improving traffic flow and preventing disruptions during floods in Kolhapur.

The 3.5 km-long flyover will span the Panchaganga river and is designed to provide smoother connectivity for travelers heading to Kolhapur city. Union Minister for Highways, Nitin Gadkari stated that the elevated corridor would enhance traffic safety and efficiency. He noted, “The construction of a 3.578 km-long six-lane elevated corridor over the Panchaganga river near Kolhapur, on the Kagal-Satara Road on National Highway 48 in Maharashtra, is approved with a provision of Rs 913.70 crore.”

The project includes a six-lane cement service road, Gandhinagar Junction development, and two underpasses to allow traffic to bypass the railway line. The highway is vital for connecting major cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru, making the project essential for long-term infrastructure development.
