REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC under the Ministry of Power, has successfully handed over two special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for intra-state transmission projects in Maharashtra on 09 January 2026.

Velgaon Power Transmission was handed over to Ceigall India, which won the project through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process for development on a build, own, operate & transfer (BOOT) basis. The project includes a 400/220 kV Velgaon Substation (GIS) and LILO of 400 kV and 220 kV lines, to be completed in 24 months. On the same day, Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission was handed over to The Tata Power Company for the establishment of a 115 km 400 kV double circuit line, also with a 24-month timeline.

Vijay Kulkarni of RECPDCL noted, “These handovers strengthen Maharashtra’s transmission network through transparent and competitive bidding.” The successful transfers highlight RECPDCL’s role in ensuring reliable power evacuation and supporting robust transmission infrastructure.
