The Bihar State Road Development Corporation (BSRDC) is working towards completing the four-lane Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road project ahead of schedule.
This comes after the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) approved the construction of a flyover on NH-31 near the new bypass. A senior BSRDC official mentioned that the Managing Director, Shirsat Kapil Ashok, is closely overseeing the project to ensure its completion by August this year, with further support from Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit to speed up the work.
Initially approved in 2020, the project has faced multiple delays due to design changes and procedural holdups, including a year-long delay over NHAI clearance. “The NHAI raised concerns over the design, but the green light was finally given, and pillar construction has begun,” said the officer.
The project aims to decongest the Patna-Gaya road and improve connectivity, reducing travel time significantly once complete. The first phase was inaugurated in June 2025, and work is progressing on the second phase.
