The Karnataka Tourism Department has lined up a wide range of service- and infrastructure-oriented works across the state, covering heritage monuments, eco-tourism hubs and major pilgrimage centres.

Projects worth Rs 367.32 crore are being taken up under four Central schemes, with tenders already floated for several components. Destinations across Bengaluru, Mysuru, Bidar, Udupi, Hampi, Ballari and Belagavi will see upgrades such as audio-guided heritage walks, cycle tracks, visitor amenities and improved mobility facilities. Officials said the initiatives are aimed at enhancing visitor experience while protecting local character and ecology. In Bengaluru, the Roerich and Devika Rani Estate at Tataguni will be developed as an eco-tourism and cultural hub with nature trails and wellness facilities.

In Udupi, an 11.7-km cycle corridor will link Mattu and Padukere beaches. Mysuru will get upgraded tonga stands and eco-experience zones, while Bidar Fort will feature audio guides and forest trails. “Plans also include an eco-wellness plaza with waterfront and garden-view cottages,” an official said.
