Rs 4.75 lakh cr contracts awarded in H1-FY26

Orders & Contracts

Initial findings from Projects Today reveal that 6,782 contracts, valued at Rs 4,75,376.06 crore, were awarded in the first half of FY26. The contracts span domestic and overseas projects and were secured by 4,596 companies across multiple sectors. Among these, 36 contracts went to Indian firms for work abroad.

In the first half of this financial year, 90 mega orders, each valued at Rs 1,000 crore or more, were announced, with a total value of Rs 2,65,160.95 crore.

By Sectors

The Services & Utilities sector, encompassing the Social and Transport segments, played a pivotal role by contributing 61 percent of the total contracts awarded in H1-FY26. The sector witnessed the finalisation of 5,628 contracts, collectively valued at Rs 2,90,048.87 crore.

Within the Infrastructure sector, major contributors included Roadways, Real Estate, Railways, Power Distribution, Water Pipelines & Distribution, Other Community Services, Telecom Services, and Water, Sewage & Effluent Treatment. Together, these segments accounted for the bulk of the project contracts awarded during the period.

In the Roadways sector during H1-FY26, a total of 1,761 contracts were awarded, amounting to Rs 55,284.15 crore. This segment accounted for 11.63 percent of the total contracts awarded within the overall Infrastructure sector.

Some of the key projects awarded during the period include:
  • Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon secured a contract worth Rs 5,729 crore from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for the construction of the Guwahati Ring Road, covering the stretch from A. Chandrapur to Sonapur (Km 55.54) and from B. Jayanagar Underpass (Km 163.237) to Jorabat (Km 171.000) of NH-27, along with improvement of the 4–6 lane stretch of NH-27 from Km 1097.150 to Km 184.700 in Assam, on DBFOT (Toll) basis.
  • Afcons Infrastructure was awarded a Rs 2,718.5 crore contract by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) for the construction of the access-controlled Pune Ring Road (East) in Maharashtra, on EPC mode, Package PRR E5, from Km 72.335 at Valati, Taluka Haveli to Km 81.900 at Sonori, Taluka Purandar, Pune District, covering a 9.565-km. stretch.
  • Atlantaa won a Rs 2,485 crore contract from Ircon International for the construction of the Bhandara-Gadchiroli Access Controlled Expressway in Maharashtra, on EPC Mode, Package BG-03, spanning 34.786 km from Km 34.750 (Sarandi Bk village, Lakhandur taluka, district Bhandara) to Km 69.536 (Kinhi, taluka. Bramhapuri,district Chandrapur).
  • PNC Infratech bagged a Rs 2,467 crore contract from MSRDC for the construction of the Bhandara-Gadchiroli Access Controlled Expressway, Package BG-02, from Km 0.000 (Garada Bk, Tq. Bhandara) to Km 34.750 (Sarandi Bk, Tq. Lakhandur, Dist. Bhandara) - covering a total length of 34.750 km, on EPC Mode.
  • Afcons Infrastructure also secured another Rs 2,068.7 crore contract from MSRDC for the construction of the access-controlled Pune Ring Road (East), Package PRR E7, from Km 97.900 (Garade, Taluka Purandar) to Km 104.140 (Shiware, Taluka Bhor), District Pune, on EPC Mode.
The Real Estate demonstrated strong performance during H1-FY26, with 790 new contracts finalised, collectively valued at Rs 48,962.73 crore.

Orders & Contracts
Some of the major contracts awarded in this sector include:
  • Ahluwalia Contracts (India) bagged a Rs 2,089 crore contract from the DLF for the civil & structure works, including rough finishing works for "The Dahlias" DLF5, Gurugram.
  • Megha Engineering & Infrastructures was awarded a Rs 2,077 crore contract by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) for the construction of roads, drains, water supply, sewerage, utility ducts for power and ICT, reuse waterline, and avenue plantation, compatible with trunk infrastructure in layouts for land pooling schemes across villages in Zone 9 of Amaravati Capital City, Andhra Pradesh. The work will be executed on a lump-sum (percentage tender) basis, with a defects liability period (DLP) of two years.
  • DEC Infrastructure & Projects secured a Rs 1,987.08 crore contract from the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for the construction of 3,112 Type-III residential units, including single basement, stilt and three-level podium parking, one multi-level car parking, community centre, and CGHS dispensary, along with all related development works and services. The project, located at Sriniwaspuri (Package-1), New Delhi, will be executed on an EPC (Mode-I) basis.

The Railways sector recorded a strong performance in H1-FY26, with 131 new contracts finalised, collectively valued at Rs 37,006.23 crore. This upward trend reflects the government's continued emphasis on enhancing rail connectivity, station redevelopment, and urban transit systems.

Orders & Contracts

Key contracts awarded during the period include:
  • Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) bagged a Rs 5,870 crore contract from the Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) for the operation and maintenance (O&M) services for three corridors of Chennai Metro Rail Phase II. These cover Corridor-3 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri SIPCOT-II Metro), Corridor-4 (Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass), and Corridor-5 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur). The scope also includes maintenance depots at Madhavaram, Poonamallee, and Semmancheri.
  • Larsen & Toubro (L&T) was awarded a Rs 4,467.72 crore contract by the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) for the design, supply, and construction of track and related works, including testing and commissioning, on a design-build lump-sum basis. The contract covers the double-line high-speed railway between Bandra-Kurla Complex (MAHSR Km -0.255) and Zaroli Village (MAHSR Km 156.600), spanning the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat, under the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project [Package No. MAHSR-T-1].
  • Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon, in consortium with Siemens and Siemens Mobility secured a Rs 4,140.06 crore contract from the NHSRCL for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, integration, testing, commissioning, and comprehensive maintenance of the signalling and train control system, telecommunication system, and operation control centre system for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project [Package No. MAHSR-S-1].

The Power Distribution sector witnessed robust activity in H1-FY26 with the finalisation of 427 new contracts amounting to Rs 36,421.16 crore. This surge in contract awards underscores the sector's focus on modernisation, efficiency, and digital transformation in power delivery systems.

A standout contract during the period was secured by Diamond Power Infrastructure, which bagged a Rs 1,349.11 crore order from Adani Energy Solutions. The contract entails the supply of 24,080 km of AL-59 high-performance conductors to be deployed across marquee transmission projects such as Jamnagar, Khavda-IV D, HVDC, Navinal-II, and Mahan-II in the state of Gujarat.

The Water & Sewerage Pipeline & Distribution sector experienced significant activity in H1-FY26, with 455 contracts finalised, amounting to a total value of Rs 29,883.76 crore.

Key contracts awarded during the period include:
  • Megha Engineering & Infrastructures bagged a Rs 3,374.8 crore contract from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) for the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project (Phases II & III) and the filling of Osmansagar and Himayathsagar reservoirs for the rejuvenation of the Musi River, under the hybrid annuity mode (HAM) of contract.
  • NCC awarded a Rs 2,090.5 crore contract by the Water Resources Department, Bihar, for the construction of the Barnar Reservoir, including dam structures, irrigation channels, and associated works.
  • Ramky Infrastructure secured a Rs 2,085 crore contract from the HMWSSB for the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Scheme (Phases II & III), involving the filling of Osmansagar and Himayathsagar reservoirs with Godavari water for the rejuvenation of the Musi River. The work covers laying and commissioning of MS pipelines: 2200mm (Ghanpur–Osmansagar), 2400mm (Ghanpur– Muthangi), 3000mm (Kokapet–Osmansagar via ORR), 2200mm (Osmansagar–Himayathsagar), and 3000mm (WTP–MBR, Ghanpur, Mahabubnagar, Telangana).

The Other Community Services witnessed the finalisation of 1,224 new contracts during H1-FY26, with a cumulative value of Rs 26,544.66 crore. This reflects a steady push toward integrated urban development, institutional infrastructure, and public utility enhancement across the country.

Among the key highlights, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) secured a Rs 2,198.43 crore contract from the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for the construction of Common Central Secretariat Buildings 6 and 7 at Plot No. 22B & 22C, Maulana Azad Road, New Delhi.

Another major contract was awarded to Shapoorji Pallonji & Company, worth Rs 1,487.11 crore, by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) for the construction of the integrated Andhra Pradesh State Secretariat and HoD offices (Towers 1 and 2) in the Amaravati Government Complex, Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh.

The Telecom Services sector recorded notable progress in H1-FY26, with 32 new project contracts finalised, collectively valued at Rs 9,073.39 crore. A key contract was secured by Polycab India, worth Rs 4,099.69 crore, from Bharat Sanchar Nigam. (BSNL). The project encompasses the design, supply, construction, installation, upgradation, operation, and maintenance of the middle-mile network of BharatNet across Karnataka, Goa, and Puducherry.

In the Manufacturing sector, 488 project contracts valued at Rs 91,770.34 crore were awarded. The sector accounted for 19.30 percent of the total contracts awarded during H1-FY26.

Within the Aircraft sector, 15 project contracts were awarded in H1-FY26, with a cumulative value of Rs 67,156.79 crore, reflecting a strong emphasis on strengthening India’s aerospace and defence manufacturing capabilities.

A standout achievement in this sector was by Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL), which secured a big-ticket contract worth Rs 62,370 crore for the procurement of 97 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk1A, including 68 fighters and 29 twin-seaters, along with associated equipment, for the Indian Air Force.

The Railway Wagon & Equipment sector witnessed the finalisation of 60 new contracts during H1-FY26, with a total order value of Rs 7,408.55 crore. A major contract was awarded to BEML, valued at Rs 1,888 crore, by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF). The contract encompasses the manufacture, supply, testing, and commissioning of fully functional LHB coaches.

The Arms & Ammunition,12 contracts were finalised, totalling Rs 4,076.05 crore. Bharat Dynamics Ltd secured a contract for the supply of Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs) from Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL).

In H1-FY26, project-related orders in the Electricity sector formed a significant portion, 11.24 percent of the total contracts awarded, with 233 contracts amounting to a substantial Rs 53,463.72 crore. This surge reflects the government's continued focus on enhancing the nation’s power generation and distribution infrastructure.

The Coal/Lignite-based Power segment, in particular, was a major contributor, witnessing the finalisation of 59 new contracts worth Rs 39,716.88 crore. Some of the most prominent contracts in this space include:
  • Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) secured a Rs 9,525 crore contract from Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Co. (MPPGCL) for the design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, civil works, erection, testing, and commissioning of the EPC package for Satpura TPS Sarni Unit 12 (1x660 MW) on a single-point responsibility basis in Betul district, Madhya Pradesh.
  • BHEL also bagged a Rs 8,998.39 crore contract from MPPGCL for the EPC package for Amarkantak TPS, Chachai (1x660 MW), on a single-point responsibility basis, covering design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning.
  • BHEL further secured a Rs 6,500 crore contract from MPPGCL for the supply of equipment (steam turbine generator with auxiliaries) and supervision of erection and commissioning for six thermal units of 800 MW.
  • TKIL Industries bagged a Rs 3,820.84 crore contract from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for the balance-of-plant turnkey package for Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station Phase-II (2x660 MW).
  • Tata Projects secured a Rs 3,122.28 crore contract from NTPC for the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-II (3x800 MW).

The Solar-based Power sector achieved significant progress in H1-FY25, with 119 new contracts finalised, totalling Rs 9,756.52 crore, underscoring India’s ongoing transition toward clean and renewable energy.

A key contract in this segment was awarded to Acme Venus Urja, which secured an order worth Rs 3,892 crore from the State Bank of India for the development and construction of a 400 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project, with repayment structured over 19 years.

Projects-related orders in the Mining sector accounted for 5.99 percent of the total project awards during H1-FY26, with 101 contracts finalised, totalling Rs 28,513.11 crore.

The Coal/Lignite-based Power segment, in particular, was a major contributor, witnessing the finalisation of 59 new contracts worth Rs 39,716.88 crore. Some of the most prominent contracts in this space include:
  • KNR Constructions secured a mega-value contract worth Rs 5,664.67 crore from NTPC for the development and operation of Banhardih Coal Mining Block in Jharkhand.
  • PNC Infratech was awarded a Rs 3,488.86 crore contract by South Eastern Coalfields for hiring of HEMM for OB removal and coal extraction by surface miner and loading and transportation of extracted coal to different destinations at Gevra OCP expansion Project.
  • Ajantha Radha Earth Movers bagged a Rs 2302.85 crore contract from Northern Coalfields for the excavation of 221.87 MBCM overburden of first dig (solid) by mechanical means at Block-B Project, NCL, Singrauli. The scope includes blast hole drilling, excavation, loading, transportation, unloading, spreading, dozing, water sprinkling, and grading over five years.
  • Sushee Hi-Tech Projects secured a Rs 1,793.13 crore contract from South Eastern Coalfields for OB removal, handling, coal extraction, composite works, as well as loading and transportation at Kusmunda OCP, Chhattisgarh.

In the Lignite sector, two project contracts were awarded during H1-FY26. A notable contract was secured by SR Mining, valued at Rs 896.96 crore, from the Rajasthan State Mines & Minerals.. The project involves the hiring of heavy earth-moving equipment (HEMM) for overburden removal, raising, loading, and transportation of saleable lignite, along with allied works, at the Sonari Lignite Mines in Barmer district, Rajasthan.

In H1-FY26, the Irrigation sector experienced significant momentum, with 332 contracts finalised, amounting to a total order value of Rs 11,580.02 crore. This reflects the government's continued focus on enhancing water resource infrastructure to boost agricultural productivity and ensure water security.

Some of the major contracts awarded include:
  • Dilip Buildcon, in consortium with Ramky Infrastructure, secured a Rs 2,905 crore contract from the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project Corporation for the construction of the feeder from Isarda to Khura Chainpura to Bandh Baretha, Bharatpur, including all components and O&M for 20 years under HAM.
  • Patel Engineering bagged a Rs 1,318.8 crore contract from the City & Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) for the construction of Kondhane Dam and allied works using roller-compacted concrete technology at village Kondhane, Taluka Karjat, District Raigad, Maharashtra.
  • EMS, in JV with NeerCare India, was awarded a Rs 781.97 crore contract by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for pollution abatement and rejuvenation of River Adi Ganga, Kolkata, West Bengal.
  • SEPC secured a Rs 442.79 crore contract from the Water Resources Department, Bihar, for the Jamaniyan to Kakrait Gangajal Uvah Irrigation Scheme under Kaimur district, associated with Pragati Yatra under the Zamanian Pump Canal Division, Mohania.

Top States

Among the states, Maharashtra emerged as the leader in H1-FY26, finalising 966 project contracts worth Rs 50,531.67 crore. Andhra Pradesh secured the second position with 202 contracts totalling Rs 43,707.49 crore, followed by Madhya Pradesh at third, with a cumulative value of Rs 38,464.08 crore. Bihar ranked fourth, with contracts worth Rs 22,144.48 crore, while Tamil Nadu completed the top five, finalising 505 work orders valued at Rs 20,795.24 crore.

Awarders & Awardees

In H1-FY26, the Ministry of Defence led the list of top contract awarders, issuing 12 contracts worth a total of Rs 66,500.66 crore. It was followed by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), which awarded 32 contracts valued at Rs 20,870.33 crore, and the Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Co. (MPPGCL), which finalised four contracts totalling Rs 18,578.69 crore.

On the awardees’ end, out of 4,596 firms that collectively secured 6,782 project contracts, NBCC (India) emerged as the most successful, bagging 39 contracts, followed closely by Larsen & Toubro, which secured 31 contracts.

Overseas Contracts

Indian companies continued to strengthen their global presence, securing 36 overseas contracts across diverse sectors such as Power Distribution, Water, Sewage & Effluent Treatment, Roadways, and more. These contracts were awarded in countries including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Guyana, and others, highlighting India’s growing expertise in international infrastructure development.

Some of the major overseas contracts include:
  • GHV Infra Projects secured a Rs 2,645 crore contract from Rana Exim FZ-LLC for the development of Erisha Smart Manufacturing Hub, consisting of industrial and commercial state-of-the-art buildings at Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone, UAE, on an EPC basis.
  • Va Tech Wabag bagged a Rs 2,332 crore contract from the Saudi Water Authority for the design, engineering, supply, construction, and commissioning of a 300 MLD Mega Desalination Plant at Yanbu, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Larsen & Toubro (L&T) secured a contract for the construction of two 380kV overhead lines in Saudi Arabia.
