RKP Energy is planning to set up a coal-based thermal power plant at Srirampur, near Chhatrapur in Ganjam district of Orissa.
The company plans to set up a 120 MW power plant with an investment of Rs 500 crore. It has already sought cooperation of the district administration for acquisition of around 90 acre government land for the project. Apart from a patch of government land, the company needs to purchase land from private persons.
The project has already received approval from the state government, while environment clearance from the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) is expected to be obtained soon after completion of the land acquisition process.
The proposed power unit is close to an industrial belt which houses Odisha sands complex (OSCOM). Besides RKP Energy, Saraf Agency Private (SAPL), also proposes to set up a titanium dioxide complex near the area with an investment of around Rs 1,200 crore.
