The Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) has cleared its Terms of References (ToR) for ONGC's gas-based project in Maharashtra.
MoEF has issued a letter of approval of ToR for preparation of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report and Environment Management Plan (EMP) for the proposed project. ONGC is setting up a 2,200 MW gas-based project with an investment of Rs 9,900 crore. The company has assured gas supply from C-24 field and B-12 fields in Tapti Daman Block of Western Offshore Basin for the project.
The proposed project will require nearly 5 to 6 million standard cu mtrs of gas per day. For this, ONGC will set up a Gas Processing Plant, Value Added Product (VAP) Plant, Combined Cycle Power Plant and Residential Complex at new landfall point onshore terminal in Palghar Taluka, Thane district of Maharashtra. This new Gas Processing Plant along with Tapti Daman Block will ensure gas supply for the proposed project in Maharashtra.
