Tata Power has signed an MoU with the government of Vietnam for setting up Long Phu-2 thermal power plant in the Southeast Asian nation.
The company bagged a 1,320 MW Long Phu-2 power project in Vietnam earlier this year. It will be developed in two units each, with 660 MW capacity. Tata Power will invest Rs 10,000 crore for the project.
The MoU approves Tata Power belonging to Tata Group, to act as an investor to develop the Long Phu-2, coal-fired power plant.
The project will be designed, engineered, procured, contracted, constructed, owned, operated and maintained on BOT basis by Tata Power and additional investors, with Tata Power as the lead member, and will reach commercial operation in accordance with agreements with the Vietnam side.
