The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has given its approval for the extension of Delhi Metro to Ghaziabad.
The UP government has granted approval for the proposed MoU to be signed between the Ghaziabad Development Authority and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the extension of metro rail project from Dilshad Garden in Delhi to New Bus Station in Ghaziabad.
With the extension of services to Ghaziabad, the metro will provide direct access to New Delhi railway station and the National Capital Region (NCR) from Ghaziabad and its adjoining areas.
The extended line will have a length of 9.71 km and will be developed with an investment of Rs 1,770 crore. Seven elevated stations will be constructed on this new corridor, which include Shaheed Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala, and New Bus Stand - in Ghaziabad
Apart from this, the state government has also decided to fast track work on the north-south corridor of the Lucknow Metro. Soon tenders will be floated for undertaking the civil works for Phase-I of the north-south corridor stretching from Transport Nagar to Charbagh railway station.
