Gujarat Ambuja Cements has announced the
completion of the capacity expansion programme of its Ropar unit in Punjab. The
unit's capacity stands enhanced to 2.5 million tpa from the earlier 1.5 million
tpa. This expansion has taken the company's aggregate cement capacity to 14.5
million tpa. The expanded Ropar unit would serve the growing cement demand in
north India.
The total cost of the Ropar expansion project
comprising 1 million tpa of cement capacity and a 30 MW captive power
plant is Rs.200 crore. Out of this, Rs.130 crore has been deployed. The entire
project is being financed through internal accruals.
