ACC, has decided to
put its Rs.600 crore expansion programme of ready-mix concrete (RMC)
business on hold. The decision has come in the wake of lack of demand for RMC in
the domestic market. The company was planning to add 200 RMC plants across the
country by 2012.
The decline in the
demand in sales in property has taken its toll on the demand for ready-mix
concrete (RMC), which is primarily used by developers in residential projects.
At present, the
company will only increase its number of plants to 40 by end-December 2008 from
the current 32. After that, the expansion programme will be completely stopped
till the market conditions get better.
