Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) is likely to invite fresh bids for
upgrading its power plant from six to 20 MW at Kothagudem in Khammam district of
Andhra Pradesh. The upgradation work is estimated to cost Rs 100 crore.
Meanwhile, the company has invited EoIs for forming a JV for an underground
coal gasification project in Andhra Pradesh. It is expected to take about three
months for the notice inviting tenders to be processed.
SCCL is also planning to increase its coal capacity by 2 million tonne from
the extension of Srirampur mine in Adilabad, an equal capacity from the open
cast mine at Bhupalapalli in Warangal and another 7,00,000 tonne to one million
tonne from a new underground mine at Manuguru in Khammam during 2009-10.
Also, the company's coal washery at Manuguru is likely to be operationlised
in May or June. It will initially have a 1 million tpa capacity, which will be
ramped up to 1.5 million tpa later.
