The Gujarat Government has reportedly unveiled the Rs 7,000 crore Swarnim
Jayanti Mukhya Mantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana (SJMMSVY - Golden Jubilee Chief
Minister Urban Development Scheme) for rapid infrastructure development in
Gujarat's urban areas.
Under the proposed scheme, a substantial amount of funds will be allocated
for Junagadh. Similarly, a considerable amount will be allocated for the
development of Bhavnagar, which will fuel the development of the Kalpasar
project, Dholera port, the Ghogha-Dahej ferry service etc. besides, Rs 400 crore
will be allocated for developing drinking water facilities in 75 municipalities
across the state and another Rs 400 crore will be allocated for the seven
municipal corporations, for people-oriented development work. For a slum
clearance scheme, Rs 75 crore has been allocated, while Rs 117.9 crore will be
allocated for the Vajpayee Nagar Vikas Yojana while Rs 180 crore will be
allocated for developing citizen-centric services in A, B, C and D class cities.
