The Goa Government's High Power Committee on industrial projects, on 27
February 2010, approved 14 proposals with an estimated investment of Rs 243
crore.
Most of the projects approved by the committee are of expansion of their
present capacities by existing companies.
The projects include bus body-building, pharma companies, packaging and
manufacture of aluminium cables, and so on. Automobile Corporation of Goa is
investing Rs 10.65 crore in expanding their Goa based plant to increase the
capacity of bus body-building from the present 4,200 to 5,000 nos per annum.
Smartlink Network System- formerly D'Link- is investing around Rs 40 crore
for the manufacture of structured cabling products and computer networking
products in their two plots in Verna industrial estate of south Goa. Nestle
India is expanding its south Goa plant at an investment of Rs 58.72 crore for
manufacture of wafers.
Further, Glenmark is investing Rs 3.30 crore for pharma plant and another Rs
1.28 crore for microlab at Kundaim in Central Goa. Marksons Pharma plans to
invest Rs 29.50 crore. Pentair Water India is planning to undertake expansion
and manufacture of new products at an investment of Rs 22.20 crore in the Verna
industrial estate.
