The State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, Orissa, has given
environmental clearance to three projects in the state. The approval follows the
recommendations of the State Environmental Appraisal Committee to this effect.
The cleared projects are Tusula minor irrigation project in Deogarh district,
Turpi minor irrigation project in Kalahandi district and the building and
construction project of the Central Government Welfare Housing Organisation.
Tusula project is an ongoing diversion near village Tusula in Barkote block
of Deogarh district. It has been designed to provide irrigation facilities to
162 ha of Khariff and 20 ha of Rabi ayacut.
Similarly, Turpi project is a reservoir project which is likely to come up
across Khalanalla River in Bhawanipatna block of Kalahandi district.
