The Karnataka Government's annual plan outlay for 2010-11 has been finalised
at Rs 31,050 crore, about 19 per cent higher than the revised estimates of
2009-10. This includes additional central assistance of Rs 65 crore for
programmes of special assistance to the state.
The state government has given priority to model supply with an allocation of
25.2 per cent in the plan. The Energy Sector is expected to get 13 percent,
transport 12.3 per cent, irrigation 11.3 per cent and education 7.8 per cent of
the outlay. The social sector will have 45.4 per cent of the total outlay. In
terms of increase, urban development will get 19.1 per cent more than last
year's allocation while labour and employment will get 15.4 per cent additional
fund.
Besides, the state government has suggested to the Planning Commission's
intervention that the Upper Bhadra project in Chitradurga district and the
de-silting of Tungbhadra reservoir should be declared as national projects. It
has also sought a special package of Rs 8,500 crore for taking up infrastructure
projects in Bangalore.
