Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, on 9 March 2010, presented annual
budget for Rajasthan for 2010-11 with an emphasis on social services,
agriculture and rural development. The budgetary allocations for the next fiscal
are 37 per cent higher than the previous year's plan.
The state government has dedicated more than half the budgetary provision for
power generation and transmission. It has allocated Rs 11,424 of the Rs 23,822
crore budget for 2010-11 as compared to 41 per cent in 2009-10 and 2008-09.
While a sum of Rs 400 crore will be allotted for the urban development
projects within the state, Rs 777 crore is to be spent on water supply
development and Rs12 crore for the drinking water system. Also, Rs 1,851 crore
has been allocated for Road development.
