Monnet Ispat & Energy (MIEL) is likely to set up cement plants in
Chhattisgarh and Gujarat with a total investment of about Rs 2,400 crore.
MIEL will set up a three million tonne plant at Raipur in Chhattisgarh, close
to its existing sponge iron and steel melting facilities, at an outlay of Rs
1,400 crore. MIEL also plans to set up a two million tonne plant in Gujarat with
an investment of close to Rs 1,000 crore.
As per sources, work on the two plants is to begin by December 2010 under a
new division of the company to be christened Monnet Cement.
