Tata Chemicals plans to invest Rs 100 crore to augment the capacity of its
salt manufacturing plant in Mithapur in Gujarat by 2012.
The company is likely to raise the capacity of the plant from 5.5 to 8
million tpa.
The consumer products business of the firm which only caters to the domestic
market is also trying to build a global business in bi-carbonate (used mainly in
animal feeds). The company has already invested Pounds 9 million (approx Rs
61.38 crore) in UK for this business.
Meanwhile, on 22 March 2010, the company has launched its portable water
purifier called 'Swach' in Karnataka.
