L&T Power, a subsidiary of L&T, proposes to expand its boiler, turbine,
generators and balance of plant (BoP) business from the current capacity of
4,000 MW to 6,000 MW by 2012.
BoP consists of the remaining systems, components, and structures other than
main energy systems such as turbines and boilers.
The company is investing about Rs 3,600 crore for setting up an industrial
complex with all the manufacturing facilities for power plants at Hazira in
Gujarat. According to sources, every year the plant will be able to manufacture
six boilers of 660 MW supercritical configurations. By 2012, it will be able to
produce nine boilers and turbines respectively.
