Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) on 22 April 2010 signed an MoU with
Bajaj Hindustan to set up a 1,980-MW thermal power project in
Lalitpur district of Bundelkhand region.
The proposed power project is likely to be set up on 1,500 acre at Mirchawar
village in Lalitpur. Uttar Pradesh is likely to get 90 per cent of the
electricity generated by the plant from 2014.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Government has approved Bajaj's proposal to set
up five plants of 90 MW each at Pilibhit, Lakhimpur-Kheri, Shahjahanpur, Gonda
and Utraula.
