Bharat Forge (BFL) is likely to kickstart the marketing effort for the Phase
I of its 10,500 acre SEZ at Khed in Maharashtra, by July 2010.
About 4,500 acre has already been acquired for the Phase I of the SEZ.
Initially, the company plans to develop 1,000 acre. The proposed multi-product
light engineering SEZ is a 76:24 JV between BFL and MIDC, with the latter
handling the land acquisition process. The SEZ is estimated to require
investments of Rs 9,000 crore.
BFL is likely to build the roads, provide water and power, etc. It will build
a 15-20 km approach road from the Pune-Nashik highway to the SEZ, ahead of
Chakan.
