Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, has reviewed the progress of AMRUT 2.0 water supply schemes in six towns of the district, focusing on fast-tracking key infrastructure projects.
Under AMRUT 2.0, Kathua is set to implement an extensive water supply plan across Kathua, Nagri, Lakhanpur, Hiranagar, Basohli, and Billawar. The scheme includes 14 tubewells, 14 overhead tanks (OHTs), seven sump tanks, and a broad network of pipes, aiming to benefit 22,930 households. Sharma directed the XEN PHE to prioritize OHT construction, which he noted is vital for stabilizing the distribution network.
“Immediate commencement of pipe network execution is essential to ensure timely coverage of targeted households,” the DC emphasised. He also called for smooth coordination among departments to resolve field-level issues and ensure timely, high-quality implementation of the scheme.
