Amazon plans to build a 1.6 million sq ft centre in Hyderabad, which will be its biggest facility outside of its corporate headquarters in Seattle.
The Hyderabad facility is expected to come up on 10 acre of land at Gachibowli and will be ready by 2018. The project will be undertaken in phases.
The global e-commerce major is presently applying for statutory permissions such as fire and environmental clearances to begin work on the project. The company already has offices in nearby Madhapur.
The move comes two weeks after Amazon Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Bezos, announced investment of $2 billion in India.
