During a meeting with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami requested the development of Dehradun and Haridwar railway stations as model stations, with the Centre bearing the cost of expansion and strengthening.
Union Minister Vaishnaw agreed to review the financials of the Haridwar-Dehradun railway line doubling project before making a final decision. CM Dhami also proposed including Almora and Someshwar in the Tanakpur-Bageshwar rail alignment, suggesting provisions for a tunnel and road. He requested the closure of the old Rishikesh railway station and transfer of its land to the state government, offering cooperation for land acquisition to support Yog Nagari station operations
Additionally, CM Dhami met Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav seeking approval for seven hydroelectric projects (totaling 647 MW) and requested transfer of 12.317 hectares of forest land in Gaulapar, Haldwani, to establish a sports university aimed at youth employment through sports.
