The South Central Railway (SCR) has sanctioned Rs 908.15 crore to establish a mega maintenance depot on the Warangal–Mahbubabad route.
The facility will cater to both periodic overhaul (POH) and routine overhaul (ROH) of railway coaches, significantly boosting maintenance capacity in the region. The depot will be developed across 300 acres of government land near Mahbubabad, strategically located along an existing railway track. This initiative complements existing railway facilities like the Coach Factory at Kazipet.
The project is also expected to generate direct employment opportunities in the region. Key political figures, including Mahbubabad MP Porika Balaram Naik, MLA Murali Naik, and officials from the National ST Commission, played a crucial role in bringing the project to the region, and highlighting the area's logistical advantages.
