In a major push for urban and rural water infrastructure in Samba, J&K’s Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, on 28 July, 2025 laid the foundation stone for the Rs 594 crore water supply scheme (WSS) in Samba Town under AMRUT 2.0.
The scheme aims to augment the water supply for all 17 wards of the town, benefiting over 30,000 residents and providing 530 functional household tap water connections (FHTCs).
Later, the Minister inaugurated six rural Water Supply Schemes—Devaka, Daboh, Gangeri Jamoda, Sandhi-II, Sangwal-II, and Dabri—costing Rs 17.75 crore. Five projects fall under the Jal Jeevan Mission, and one under the UT CAPEX Budget. Together, these schemes provide 673 FHTCs and aim to enhance water security across several villages. Featuring GSRs, sump tanks, pipelines, filtration plants, and an electric substation, the projects support the government’s vision for climate-resilient, grassroots infrastructure.
