To accelerate urban and industrial development in the Yamuna Expressway region, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has initiated a targeted plan to purchase leftover land parcels across 18 sectors.
These small, scattered plots—constituting roughly 20 percent of the total land—have long hindered the completion of critical infrastructure such as roads, sewage treatment plants (STPs), drainage systems, and civic amenities, despite 80% of land already being acquired in sectors including 5, 8, 10, 13, 17, 20, 22, 28, 32, and 33.
Officials said the authority will now directly negotiate with farmers to acquire land in chunks of 10 acres. "An action plan has been prepared to acquire 100% land in all sectors of the Yeida area. This will accelerate industrial activities along with settlement in the city, and this is our immediate focus," said RK Singh, YEIDA CEO.
The urgency is heightened by the nearing operational timeline of the Noida International Airport. Incomplete acquisition has stalled allotments since 2009 in residential sectors and since 2013 in industrial sectors. Key STPs for the medical device park in Sector -28 and apparel park in Sector-29 also remain pending.
