The Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company (MPPGCL) is planning to install 660 MW supercritical thermal power plant in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh.
The power plant will be constructed at the existing decommissioned/ retired units of Phase-I (one x 20 MW + one x 30 MW) and Phase-II (two x 120 MW), a total of 290 MW at Amarkantak Thermal Power Station site. The project will entail an investment of Rs 4,665.87 crore.
The total land available for the proposed project is 383 acre, out of which 218 acre is within the plant boundary and the remaining 165 acre is outside the plant boundary.
The proposed project involves replacement of the existing retired units with new one x 660 MW supercritical technology-based thermal power plant. The project will be scheduled to go into commercial operation in 50 months after the zero date.
The plant will provide employment opportunities for 3,000 persons during construction phase and 400 persons during operation phase. MPPGCL received terms of reference (ToR) for the project in October 2019.
As per the latest information available with Projects Today, consultant for the project was likely to be appointed by November-end 2019.
