The Andhra Pradesh Government is planning to increase the hydel capacity in the state by FY15 to meet the ever-increasing demand for power.
For the purpose, the state government intends to add 410 MW capacity by FY15 with the construction and commissioning of more units at Nagarjuna Sagar, Pulichintala and Jurala.
As a part of this, Unit-I of lower Jurala at Mahaboobnagar, with a capacity of 80 MW, is likely to be commissioned by September 2013, while Unit-II and Unit-III, each with 80 MW capacity, are expected to be completed by July 2014. The Nagarjuna Sagar tailpond unit at Nalgonda district of 50 MW, and Pulichintala at Guntur district with 120 MW capacity are expected to be commissioned by FY15.
Currently, the state has a total 3,829 MW hydel capacity.
