Maharashtra government-appointed high-power committee has approved a master layout plan for Kisan Nagar cluster redevelopment project in Thane spread over 12 acre.
The Kisan Nagar cluster plan will be taken up in phases. The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) has been appointed as the executing agency for Phase-I and this will serve as a template for all further cluster plans awaiting execution in the city.
The committee has been set up for approval of all 35-plus cluster proposals spread over 1,500 ha (3,700 acre) in the city.
The committee has cleared the layout plan for Phase-I which will be executed at Kisan Nagar area in Wagle estate ward.
The cluster redevelopment will resolve the issue of rehabilitation of lakhs of residents staying in old and dilapidated structures in the city limits.
